2022 George Morrison Forever Stamps

George Morrison (1919–2000), one of America’s greatest modernist artists and the founder of Native American modernism, challenged conventional ideas of what Native American art “should” be. He argued that an artist’s identity could stand apart from cultural expectations, and that the essence of creating art lies in the pursuit of awareness.

Morrison is celebrated for his abstract landscapes and monumental wooden collages, works that draw on his childhood memories and reflect a profound, enduring connection to the natural world.
